"The Pittsburgh retail market is experiencing a deceleration compared to last year's fourth quarter. Leasing and investment activity have fallen sharply among individual proprietors and smaller chain stores, though fitness centers, pharmacies and entertainment venues appear to be unaffected.

Knowing how retailers strategically develop their expansion plans, I would not be surprised to see a slow-down in activity through 2009."
